So, apparently, we move to Sacramento and I stop blogging...! It's not that we've been too busy, my focus has just been elsewhere. I was truly hoping and expecting this move to bond Uriah and Ezra together - out of necessity, maybe, because they'd have no other friends... but their relationship went in the exact opposite direction and we had a lot of long days and hard talks. Eventually we all started to figure it out but the month of July was just the beginning of it all. We moved, we were starting to settle in and find our groove and our friends, trying to make this place feel like home, trying to not melt in the heat... All in all, it was 100% better than July 2015 after moving to Palo Alto!
^^ Our first Sunday trying out a church! Uriah was super apprehensive about going to a new place with new people, but he shed his tears at home and walked in like a champ. So proud of this stud! We didn't end up staying at this church but their Lego table gave him the boost he needed to not feel so scared going into all the other churches we then tried ;) ^^
^^ So. Many. Trips. To. Ikea...! Stephen's least favorite place! ...Now ;) Our new space isn't a whole lot bigger than our last, but the different layout (and hardwood floors) required some new pieces. We made several trips our first month here, this particular one, right before bedtime in our jammies! ^^
^^ A Costco cart selfie just because! Getting in my monthly workout wearing Judah and pushing those two beasts and all our food around! ^^
^^ Our 4th of July wasn't anything special - Stephen had to work and ended up getting called back in in the evening, but he was able to make it home in time for fireworks and that's all the kids really wanted. Simple and fun - I'll take it! (there's a very good chance we did something else with our day - went to the park, the library...? I'm writing this in October so give me a break ;))^^
^^ Donuts before the park on dad's day off (before the heat sets in!) and sleeping babies just because! ^^
^^ A morning at Fairytale Town! Just the four of us exploring our neighborhood - they make the best adventure buddies! ^^
^^ Nana's here! My most amazing mother flew to Sacramento to spend a couple days hanging out in our hood just to drive us back to her starting point so we could meet baby Ozzy (a post to come!) ^^
^^ Morning runs to the duck pond in their Stanford shirt, per tradition! These kiddos are so lucky to have such an invested, involved and loving dad! ^^
^^ Anniversary date night! To celebrate seven years since '11, Stephen got me a gift certificate for the tattoo I've always wanted! We left the kids with Nana, got inked up!, ate Jimmy John's in the Capital courtyard and finished the night off with a Dairy Queen blizzard - literally all I wanted for our day! Ha! Loved getting to spend some quality alone time with my hunk of husband! ^^
^^ Nana and Papa got us a zoo membership for Christmas after we found out we'd be moving to Sacramento. Turns out, we now live 5 minutes away! Finally cashed in and went to check it out - Kids 100% approve! (We have now been to and from Pocatello in the month, but we'll get there!) ^^
^^ We had more visitors in the month of July - Stephen's parents came down to check out our new digs, too! We used them as babysitters one Sunday morning to try out a new church sans kiddos. They came just before Stephen started his time consuming consults rotation, so this two hour "date" was much appreciated! ^^
^^ We made it out to the river with Jeff and Sherri while they were in town. Interesting crowd...surprisingly on an early Saturday morning... So we haven't quite figured out the best river spot yet, but the kids were oblivious and enjoyed our few hours playing in the sand and water! ^^
^^ Our backyard is home to a couple fruit trees and one of them, our pomegranate tree, was home to this bird nest, which after lots of observation and research we discovered was a Northern Mocking Bird's nest. She had three eggs come and go from this nest never to hatch, poor momma. Eventually she gave up and abandoned this beauty, leaving it for our nature box. ^^
